The Strandbeest

The Strandbeest

The Strandbeest

The Strandbeest comes—so brace yourself.
There it strides through the dune landscape.
It bears the name of Theo Jansen,
Who managed to construct it
With mathematics and science.

It advances with a light step,
Stately roaming ridge by ridge.
It almost seems to dance upon the beach.

The Strandbeest comes!

Thus it progresses amid applause,
Born from a student prank
And from that strange, typically Dutch
Talent for seizing opportunities.

However you look at it—
It is remarkably clever.

The Strandbeest comes!
