Whrilpool

Whrilpool

Whirlpool

Seated on the edge of raging thoughts,
Looking out upon the waves of a wild stream.
Thinking boils and seethes in vapor and white steam,
With wreckage drifting on unleashed forces.

Prey to the interplay of unchained powers
Hammering in a dreadful dream.
Seated aboard or on the reed-fringed bank
Watching the spectacle from afar.

Though the burst of energy be enormous,
All that violence does not produce an idea.
What use is a furious storm of words
Or a south-wester on a merciless sea?

You need a framework and a form:
A measure, a rule, and a golden ratio.
