The Iron Triangle of Healthcare: Quality, Accessibility and Affordability
The family physician stands at its centre.
Mission and Vision
Primary Care Comes First
In these challenging times, we sometimes no longer know what the truth is. What we do know, however, is what reliable information looks like, where to find it, and how to make it accessible to people searching for guidance in the questions they face. This website—and this section in particular—is an independent source of information on health, healthcare and society.
It reflects the commitment that has guided my entire career as an independent family physician: to provide care for everyone, to remain open to every question, and above all to every person, regardless of who they are. Good, accessible and trustworthy information is itself a form of care. Clear knowledge enables people to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Our healthcare system is continually balancing three essential values: accessibility, quality and affordability—the iron triangle of healthcare. At the heart of this triangle, the family physician fulfils a unique and indispensable role. As the primary point of contact within the healthcare system, the family doctor builds long-term relationships of trust and safeguards the balance between medical need, human dignity and financial sustainability.
The information provided on this website is intended to support every aspect of this iron triangle. Accessible and reliable knowledge is essential for everyone involved in healthcare: patients, their families, and healthcare professionals alike. Clear information strengthens cooperation, encourages shared decision-making, and helps preserve the foundations of our healthcare system.
That is why we remain committed to a strong, people-centred system of primary care.
Primary Care Comes First.
