The Pope of Satan
(historical thriller with Philip Coppens)
The Pope of Satan follows the decadent writer Joris-Karl Huysmans, who in the fictional narrative also works for the French secret service. He infiltrates the satanic milieu of Paris and tracks down a dark figure—the alleged “Pope of Satan”—who turns out to be a respectable chaplain in Bruges.
The story unfolds amid occult intrigues, historical mysteries (the War of the Magi, Nostradamus, Jack the Ripper), and hidden truths about Jesus and Mary Magdalene, with Bruges and Orval as key locations. It is an absorbing mix of mystery, historical fact, and literary fiction, written in a demanding, intellectual style.
