The Philosopher’s Stone / La Pierre des Sages

(photo book and city game, with Marc Borms)

Brussels—the capital of alchemists and Freemasons. The city where stones speak… in two languages.

In this work/game, photographer Marc Borms and Patrick Bernauw join forces. The audiobook is a visual and textual quest for the secrets alchemists and Freemasons have left in the stones of Brussels since the Middle Ages.

Alchemists sought the Philosopher’s Stone—the key to transformation: the power to turn base metals into gold, and the mystical aqua vita, the elixir of eternal life. Borms’ photographs capture the symbols and traces still visible today, while Bernauw brings the stories and hidden meanings to life.

The audiobook is bilingual (Dutch/French) and invites the reader to unravel the “Seven Mysteries of the Philosopher’s Stone.” All you need is your smartphone to play.

A true initiation into the secrets of alchemy, mythology, and esotericism.
