Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:19

Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:19

We women stand ready to bring her our offerings.
We bake image-cakes for the Queen
Of Heaven. Much honey goes into them.

In airy garments with loose-flowing hair
We pour fragrant offerings before her altar.
Then no affliction enters the household,
And her grace grants us protection.

Mix nard with incense and myrrh.
Stand in a dark circle, round about,
And burst forth in a shadowy chant.

Our compass drawn along the curve of the moon.
She knows no drive to deeds, no coercion.
Thus we follow her incomparable course.

We hear no men—
We go freely on our way.
