L\u2019individu est un sujet et non un objet que l\u2019on pourrait diss\u00e9quer, \u00e9valuer et manipuler. La mani\u00e8re dont l\u2019\u00eatre humain fait l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de quelque chose est plus importante que la mani\u00e8re dont cette chose est r\u00e9ellement. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience du client constitue sa r\u00e9alit\u00e9. En th\u00e9rapie, le monde subjectif d\u2019un individu, ici et maintenant, est plus important que la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 objective.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pour le th\u00e9rapeute, il s\u2019agit de voir le monde \u00e0 travers les yeux de la personne qui demande de l\u2019aide et de se mettre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coute de ses sentiments, tout en maintenant la distance \u00e9motionnelle appropri\u00e9e. Rogers adopte \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard une d\u00e9marche non directive, en ce sens qu\u2019il n\u2019indique aucune direction et ne poursuit aucun objectif.<\/span><\/p>\n
