The little yellow patch of wall\u2014behold<\/span>
\n<\/span>How here a primal Dutch genius<\/span>
\n<\/span>Depicted the view of Delft.<\/span><\/p>\n

There stands the Old John, leaning,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Its crooked stance mirrored in the Schie.<\/span><\/p>\n

The play of light creates the illusion<\/span>
\n<\/span>Of a harmony almost too brief.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Already clouds are drifting in.<\/span><\/p>\n

The little yellow patch of wall,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And perhaps three more yellow touches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Was it not Marcel Proust<\/span>
\n<\/span>Who described this view so deeply?<\/span><\/p>\n

This scene of light and life,<\/span>
